Descripción
In the small village of Castrillo de Murcia, just a few kilometres from Sasamón, it takes place the festivity of “El Colacho” the Sunday after Corpus Day. An extravagant character, “El Colacho”, runs through the streets wearing clothes with bright colours and whipping the people. In several places of the village, locals build altars with flowers. In front of them, there are some mattresses with the babies born in the village during the year.
The Colacho must jump over the babies so as to prevent them from illnesses. After the processions, people go to the fields to hear a speech, dance and eat cheese with wine. The origin of this festivity dates back to the seventeenth century and it has been represented since then.
