Descripción

The church of La Asunción was built between the fourteenth and sixteenth century and it was declared as Historic Monument in 1992. It has elements from the gothic art, but also from the Renaissance and Baroque styles. This mixture between different artistic styles makes the building even more interesting.

The church has three naves, polygonal apses, sacristy and four chapels: the Kings Chapel, the Baptistery Chapel, the Miserere Chapel and the Pure Virgin Chapel. The Chapel of the Miserere stands out thanks to the sculptures of the Three Wise Men, a work of art of the fifteenth century, and the reclining Christ, from the workshop of Gregorio Fernández.

The altarpiece is a work of the seventeenth century formed by three streets and three floors. The central sculpture represents the Virgin Mary. It should also be noted the choir (with 21 seats carved with scenes of the Apostles), the pulpit, the organ of the seventeenth century and the sculpture of La Piedad, a work of art of Felipe Vigarny.
